Notice of Deadline to File an Application for Place on the Ballot: January 14, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. through February 13, 2025, at 5:00 p.m

    • Position 4 - Full Term 
    • Position 5 - Full Term

     

  • An individual is eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, a Texas school board if the individual: 

    • Is a United States citizen;
    • Is 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable; 
    • Has not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote;
    • Has not been finally convicted of a felony;
    • Has resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the following date:
      • ​​For an independent candidate, the date of the regular filing deadline for a candidate’s application for a place on the ballot;
      • For a write-in candidate, the date of the election at which the candidate’s name is written in;​​​ or
      • For an appointee to an office, the date the appointment is made;
    • ​Is registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected on the date described above;
    • Must be a qualified voter: 18 years of age or older, a U.S.. citizen, a Texas resident, a registered voter, not determined to be totally or partially mentally incapacitated by an appropriate court, and not finally convicted of a felony;
    • Has not been convicted of a felony or an offense under Texas Penal Code §43.02(b) regarding prostitution. 
    • A person is ineligible to serve on a school board if the person has been convicted of a
      felony or an offense under Texas Penal Code section 43.02(b) regarding prostitution.

    Main Voting will be on May 3, 2025, Election Day, and will be held at the First Baptist Church (424 W. Parker St., Elkhart TX 75839) from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

  • Una persona es elegible para ser candidata, elegida o nombrada para una junta escolar de Texas si la persona: 

    • Es ciudadana de los Estados Unidos;
    • Sea mayor de 18 años el primer día del período a cubrir en la elección o en la fecha del nombramiento, según corresponda; 
    • No ha sido determinado por una sentencia final de un tribunal que ejerza la jurisdicción de sucesiones como totalmente incapacitado mentalmente o parcialmente incapacitado mentalmente sin derecho a voto;
    • No ha sido finalmente condenado por un delito grave;
    • Ha residido continuamente en el estado durante 12 meses y en el territorio desde el cual se elige el cargo durante los seis meses inmediatamente anteriores a la siguiente fecha:
      • ​​Paraun candidato independiente, la fecha límite normal de presentación de la solicitud de un candidato para un puesto en la boleta;

    • No ha sido condenado por un delito grave o un delito bajo el Código Penal de Texas §43.02(b) con respecto a la prostitución. 
    • Una persona no es elegible para servir en una junta escolar si la persona ha sido condenada por un delito grave o un delito bajo la sección 43.02 (b) del Código Penal de Texas con respecto a la prostitución.
